Products at SA Peanuts

Grown for South African Conditions

Most of the country’s production originates from commercial farms in the Northern Cape, North West, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal, with the Vaal River region recognised as South Africa’s highest peanut-producing area.

With a 150-day growing cycle, peanuts fit perfectly into the local summer season, ensuring that harvesting can be completed before the arrival of frost when planted timeously. The Spanish and Runner-type cultivars remain the preferred choice for local growers, well-suited to South Africa’s weather conditions due to their upright growth habit, short season, and excellent yield potential.

Planting typically takes place between October and November, once adequate rainfall has been received, especially important for dryland farmers.
